Principle of toughening:

1. The self-toughening double-layer glass is made by adding raw materials that can generate the second phase, controlling the generation conditions and reaction process, and directly through high-temperature chemical reaction or inducing the anisotropic growth of alumina grains to make the main crystal phase. Whiskers are uniformly distributed in the matrix, and the crystal grain aspect ratio is large or the reinforcement of the wafer is grown.

2. In this way, the defects of incompatibility and uneven distribution of the two phases can be avoided, so that the strength and toughness are higher than those of the same material toughened by the foreign second phase, thereby further improving the mechanical properties of the material.

The method of toughening the product:

1. When the crack encounters long columnar particles during the expansion process, it bends along the weakly bonded particle/matrix interface and deviates from the direction perpendicular to the interface, thus prolonging the crack propagation path in the process of customizing the double-layer glass. , consume more energy, so as to achieve the purpose of toughening the glass.

2. Bridging and toughening refers to the fact that when a crack occurs in the matrix, the whiskers bear the external load like a bridge, and build a bridge between the crack surfaces of the matrix. The whiskers on the fracture surface of the bridging body generate a force to close the cracks on the body, and consume the external load to do work, thereby increasing the toughness and strength of the glass.

3. When the matrix crack propagates, the stress concentration causes the interface between the weakly bonded grains and the matrix to dissociate; and when further strained, causes the grains to break at the weak point and then pull out of the matrix. The process of pulling out the grains needs to consume a certain amount of energy, so as to achieve the purpose of toughening the material.
