Generally,when the temperature is very low in winter,pour boiling water into the glass,and thicker glasses are more likely to burst the cup,so why is this?
Because the glass is cool,when hot water is poured,the inner wall will expand rapidly due to thermal expansion and contraction;However,because glass is a poor conductor of heat,if the cup wall is very thick,the temperature will not quickly spread to the outer wall,so the inner wall will expand;However,the outer wall remains in its original state,so it will cause the glass to explode and break.
The thinner the bottle,because the heat conduction is faster when pouring hot water,the temperature difference between the inner and outer walls is small,and the deformation difference between the inner and outer walls is also small,so it is not easy to break.If you slowly and small amounts of boiling water,and shake the cup at the same time so that the cup is heated evenly inside and out,you can better avoid explosion.
